Bill Belichick not a fan of Raiders’ reported asking price for Davante Adams

Davante Adams wants to be traded, but Bill Belichick believes trading the wide receiver could prove to be difficult if the Las Vegas Raiders don’t come down on their reported asking price of a second-round pick.

“Not for a second-round pick, which supposedly is what they’re asking for. I don’t see how anybody is going to give up a second-round pick for him,” the former New England Patriots coach said during his appearance on Underdog Fantasy. “You’d have to feel like Adams is going to take us to the promised land and he’s going to get us over the hump this year, because he’s also got a big salary.”

Adams is also dealing with a hamstring injury that will likely keep him sidelined in Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He hasn’t played Week 3. Couple his injury with the high salary — over $16 million this season and $36.25 million in 2025 and 2026 — he’s set to earn, it might make it all the more difficult to move Adams.

“That’s why if you see that storm coming and it’s brewing, it’s a lot better to do it early rather than later. Right now the Raiders are in a tough situation, they really are,” Belichick said. “But they kind of put themselves into it. This wasn’t a big secret. This storm has been brewing for a while and the longer you put it off, it seems like the harder it is to get anything done.”

The New York Jets and the New Orleans Saints are reportedly “in the driver’s seat” to land Adams and are also atop the wideout’s preferred landing spots. The 31-year-old is familiar with Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Saints quarterback Derek Carr, though the latter is dealing with an oblique injury that will keep him out of game action for a few weeks. Adams was teammates with both QB’s during his career, and thrived as Rodgers’ go-to target while they were with the Green Bay Packers.

Adams would certainly provide a boost to either the Jets or the Saints. Both teams are 2-3 and there’s still plenty of football left to play to turn things around and potentially make a playoff run.
