Springfield STARS Club has been watching the night sky for 90 years

When Richard Sanderson was 4 years old, his father wrapped him in a blanket and brought him into the late-night chill to see the Northern Lights. He’s been star struck ever since that stellar experience.

“It made a big impression on me because I can still remember it vividly after all these years,” the East Longmeadow resident told The Republican. “I don’t remember the Northern Lights themselves, or what they looked like, but I do remember I was amazed there was something worth looking at in the sky at night.”
