The 2024 Topsfield Fair is in full swing, with more than 70 food vendors serving everything from vegetable tempura to fried Oreos and funnel cake.
If you’re someone who gets overwhelmed by the wide array of fair food, then we’ve got you covered.
Below are five must-try foods that MassLive ate at the Topsfield Fair.
Chompers Crunchy Balls of Goodness
Five balls for $14 is what you get at Chompers Crunchy Balls of Goodness. The stand has four options: bacon cheeseburger, chicken parmesan, taco and cheesy potato and corn. MassLive tried the taco bites that come with a side of salsa and sour cream for dipping.
Whoopie Pie latte from The Whoopie Wagon
The Whoopie Wagon decided to step it up from last year at the Topsfield Fair with its new whoopie pie latte. The caffeinated beverage comes in four flavor options: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Salted Caramel, Pumpkin Spice and Mocha. Each latte, which goes for $12, comes with a miniature whoopie pie. MassLive tried the Very Vanilla latte that came with a vanilla “Funfetti” Whoopie Pie.
Turkey Gobbler sandwich
Turkey Gobbler’s signature sandwich is a staple at the Topsfield Fair. The $16 sandwich is a little taste of Thanksgiving between bread. The sandwich comes with a slice of roasted turkey, cranberry stuffing and mayonnaise.
Shepard’s Pie Baked Potato from Stuffed Potatoes
You can get all your daily calories by ordering the $12 Shepard’s Pie Baked Potato from the Stuffed Potato stand. The loaded potato comes with butter, cheese, ground beef, brown gravy and corn served in a tray.
‘Trick or Treat’ ice cream cookie sandwich from Cookie Monstah
The Cookie Monstah is known for its gargantuan ice cream cookie sandwiches — and you can get one of their seasonal treats at the Topsfield Fair this year. The “Trick or Treat” sandwich is a large scoop of Milky Way chocolate ice cream pressed between two rainbow M&M cookies. The festive dessert goes for $8.
The Cookie Monstah’s other seasonal snack “The Boo Berry” — a sandwich made with two sugar cookies and blueberry pie ice cream — is also at the fair.
The Topsfield Fair — one of the oldest agricultural fairs in the United States — returned for its 206th year on Friday, Oct. 4. The fair will last 11 days, concluding on Monday, Oct. 14.
Tickets to Topsfield Fair are $20 and can be purchased online or at the fair. Children under 8 can enter the fairgrounds for free with a ticket-holding adult.
