The Orioles, the top-ranked wild card team in the AL, were ousted in two games. The Astros, AL West champs, were sent home before they could win a game were sent home for the winter by a team that had a losing record on Aug. 27. And the New York Mets, who qualified for the postseason in Game No. 161, are now two wins from playing for the National League pennant.
