High surf advisory for 4 Massachusetts counties until Thursday evening – breaking waves of 5 to 7 feet foreseen

The National Weather Service issued a high surf advisory at 5:59 a.m. on Thursday valid for Thursday between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. for Essex, Plymouth, Barnstable and Nantucket counties.

The weather service says, “Large breaking waves of 5 to 7 feet expected in the surf zone.”

“Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion,” explains the weather service. “Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.”
