Mass. State Police trooper who died during training was ‘exceptional young man’

A Massachusetts State Police trooper who sustained fatal injuries during a defensive tactics training exercise at the agency’s academy in New Braintree was remembered in his obituary for his “kind heart, generosity, and dedication.”

Enrique Delgado-Garcia, 25, of Worcester, died on Sept. 13, just a day after he was injured during a training exercise in the boxing ring. He was sworn in as a trooper hours before he died, which his family described as an achievement of a longtime dream.
