NEW YORK — The Red Sox’ Opening Day lineup featured Trevor Story hitting third and Triston Casas as the cleanup hitter against the Mariners on March 28. Five-plus months — and a couple of major injuries later — those two hitters are at the bottom of the lineup as the Red Sox look to cling to any remaining hope of reaching the postseason Friday night in the Bronx.
Casas is hitting seventh and Story is hitting eighth against the Yankees and righty Clarke Schmidt in the second of four games between the teams at Yankee Stadium. It’s the third time in seven games manager Alex Cora will use that alignment.
