Aaron Judge hands Red Sox crushing loss with late grand slam in Bronx

NEW YORK — Everything was going so well for the Red Sox on Friday night. A rookie, pitching on an hour’s notice, delivered five shutout innings in his second career start. Masataka Yoshida and Trevor Story both broke out of slumps with big, two-run homers. With a 4-0 lead with nine outs to go, Boston had to feel good about not losing any ground in the wild card race on this night.

Then came the walks. Then came Aaron Judge — and one of the most crushing defeats of a long season for Boston.
