WooSox score early, fend off late rally to secure fourth-straight win

The Worcester Red Sox scored early and often on Thursday, defeating the Rochester Red Wings, 13-10.

Tyler Heineman gave the visitors an early lead with a solo home run in the third, his eighth of the season.

But the Red Wings climbed in front in the same frame off a two-run home run from Jackson Cluff.

However, the Red Sox would not stay quiet as they popped off for five runs in the fourth. Bobby Dalbec connected on his 18th home run of the season during the rally.

Worcester ripped off another five-run rally in the sixth, featuring a three-run home run from Kristian Campbell, his fourth of the year.

The Red Wings did well to climb back, scoring eight runs combined in the seventh and eighth. But Worcester managed to hang on late, with Dalbec picking up an RBI single in the ninth to secure the victory.

Worcester (69-65) has won four games in a row and will look to make it five when the Red Sox take on the Red Wings on Friday, Sept. 6 for the third game of a five-game series. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m.
