A Shrewsbury police cruiser was involved in a rollover car crash on Route 9 on Saturday that sent several people to the hospital, according to police.
The crash happened at an intersection around 12:55 p.m. when the cruiser was traveling north on Oak Street and collided with a Subaru Outback, which was traveling west on Route 9, Shrewsbury police wrote in a Facebook post. At the time, the cruiser was carrying two officers, responding to a separate incident and had its lights and sirens activated.
The crash caused the cruiser to rollover, and it came to rest on its roof, according to police. Both officers were able to get out of the cruiser on their own and were taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester with non-life-threatening injuries.
