The Red Sox drafted Kristian Campbell with the 2023 fourth round compensation pick (132nd overall) that they received for losing Xander Bogaerts in free agency to the Padres during the 2022-23 offseason.
Campbell — a 22-year-old shortstop/center fielder whose teammate call him “Barry Bonds” — is batting .341 with a .445 on-base percentage, .570 slugging percentage, 1.015 OPS, 16 homers, 31 doubles, three triples, 66 RBIs, 78 runs, 62 walks, 87 strikeouts and 21 steals combined between High-A Greenville (40 games), Double-A Portland (56 games) and Triple-A Worcester (two games) this season. He ranked among Baseball America’s top 100 prospects (No. 98).
