WESTFIELD — The City Council on Aug. 15 approved an easement on Medeiros Way for the proposed Streamfield battery bank, despite concerns over the project.
Councilor William Onyski, who chairs the Legislative and Ordinance Committee, said the easement would allow Texas-based Jupiter Power, which is proposing the facility on Westfield’s North Side, to run power lines through a trench under the public road, connecting the two parcels it is hoping to develop.
Onyski said his subcommittee “strictly stuck with the easement” in its discussion, not any other aspect of the project. He said subcommittee members and Jupiter representatives discussed the best way to install and cover trenches. The plan has been approved by the city’s Board of Public Works. Jupiter will pay the city $5,000. The council vote authorizes Mayor Michael McCabe to execute the easement agreement.
