The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office has identified the woman who drowned in a Taunton pond Saturday afternoon as 23-year-old Taunton resident Elfreda Nenen Yovonie.
Taunton police and firefighters responded to Bunk Pond, which is just north of I-495 on the Raynham/Taunton town line, around 4:30 p.m. for a report of a drowning, police said previously. Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts Environmental Police and several dive teams also responded.
A dive team recovered Yovonie’s body shortly before 7 p.m., the district attorney’s office said. Authorities are still investigating her death, but it is not believed to be suspicious.
No further information about Yovonie’s death has been released.
