Holyoke Veterans Court begins fund to support veterans seeking fresh starts

HOLYOKE – Nearly a decade ago, the state opened a Veterans Court Western Massachusetts. Now the family of one of its founders plans to add a feature that will help those who graduate move forward in life.

The widow and son of Archer B. Battista have started a foundation in his name designed to give small financial awards — $1,000 to $3,000 — to help veterans as they graduate from the court and move on to a better life.
