Pregnant Mass. woman killed in stabbing remembered as ‘compassionate soul’

A 25-year-old woman killed in a stabbing in Lynn late last month was remembered in her obituary as generous, loving and funny.

Brianna Welsh, of Lynn, was three months pregnant at the time of her death, according to Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker’s office. Prosecutors say she was stabbed to death by her boyfriend’s brother hours after her boyfriend was arrested and charged with assaulting her.

In the obituary, her family described Welsh, who grew up in Harwich, as a “compassionate soul.” Welsh, who often went by “Bri Bri” or “Banana,” sold tickets to see the Boston Celtics, Red Sox and Bruins, a role where she “brought joy to the city.”

Welsh loved her family, friends, photography, collecting crystals, traveling, music and shopping, according to the obituary. She graduated from Monomoy Regional High School in 2017.

Calling hours for Welsh will be held on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A service for her will be held on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. Both events will be held at Doane Beal and Ames Funeral Home in Harwich.

In lieu of donations, Welsh’s family asks for donations to the Independence House, which describes itself as Cape Cod’s “leading domestic and sexual violence emergency housing resource, counseling, and advocacy center to address and prevent domestic and sexual violence.”
