Well-rested Red Sox closer was eager — and needed — for four-out save

KANSAS CITY — One by one, the Red Sox used a tag team approach with their bullpen Tuesday night.

When Brayan Bello ran out of gas with two outs in the fifth, the parade of relievers began. First, Brennan Bernardino got the final out in the fifth. Next came Zack Kelly, who tossed a perfect sixth. Then it came time for Cam Booser, of whom the Sox asked for more than three outs, only to have him allow the leadoff hitter in the eighth to reach.
