Dracut Police are asking for the public’s help after nearly 50 guinea pigs were found abandoned on a small trail near Beaver Brook on Monday afternoon.
Police learned that someone found several guinea pigs on a trail between the Beaver Brook Mill and Beaver Brook at around 12:30 p.m. Monday. Animal Control found 49 guinea pigs on the trail, all of which seemed “lethargic and in poor condition,” Dracut Police Chief Peter Bartlett said in a statement.
The guinea pigs were brought to the Lowell Humane Society because they needed veterinary care, according to Bartlett. The animals are still at the humane society but are not yet available for adoption because of their conditions, according to the statement.
