A Mansfield man was killed in a car crash on Route 1 in Wrentham Friday evening after he tried to make an abrupt U-turn, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash on the northbound side of the road shortly after 5:30 p.m., state police said in a Sunday press release. The initial investigation indicates that the driver of a Mercedes sedan was attempting to make an abrupt U-turn from the center travel lane when a vehicle traveling north in the leftmost travel lane hit the sedan on the driver’s side.
The 50-year-old man who was driving the Mercedes was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared dead, state police said. The other driver involved in the crash was uninjured.
