LOS ANGELES — When infielder Vaughn Grissom was rehabilitating from a hamstring pull early in the season the Red Sox made it clear that when Grissom was fully recovered, the second base position would be his in Boston.
After all, the Sox had targeted him when they were ready to deal Chris Sale last winter and the organization viewed Grissom as its second baseman of the present as well as the future.
