Man suffers life-threatening injuries in Cambridge shooting

A man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was shot in Cambridge late Tuesday night, according to police.

Shots were fired in an area of Harvard Street in Cambridge near Kendall Square around 9:13 p.m. on Tuesday, Cambridge Police Superintendent of Operations Pauline Wells wrote in an email. Officers found a man with gunshot wounds in the area and rushed him to a Boston hospital.

The man is between 40 and 50 years old, according to police.

Police also found several shell casings in the area of the shooting, Wells said.

Detectives were still on the scene of a “very active investigation” Tuesday morning, Wells wrote.
