Bill Belichick has picked up a couple of new media gigs since leaving the New England Patriots. However, he reportedly still has all eyes on returning to coaching in 2025.
During an appearance as a guest host on “The Rich Eisen Show” Tuesday, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero said that Belichick intends to coach in 2025.
“He’s fully invested, he wants the coach again,” Pelissero said. “He wants to pursue the all-time wins record. Those are things that really matter a lot to Bill Belichick.”
Pelissero referenced Belichick’s activity over the past year as signs that the former Patriots coach is staying engaged in the game. The 72-year-old has been spotted attending football camps and is now set to work as an analyst for “Inside the NFL.”
In addition to taking part in coaching camps, Belichick also appears to be working on his public image.
“He’ll be trying to remind you that he’s not Darth Vader, that there’s more to Bill Belichick,” Pelissero said. “He’s done a good job of that too, so far.”

Belichick developed a reputation as one of the NFL’s most gruff and draconian coaches during his 24-year run in New England. Much of that was due to fans only really getting to see Belichick speak during press conferences.
However, Belichick is known for having a dry sense of humor and being less stone-faced than he often is in front of reporters. It’s something he’s shown during media appearances so far this year.
So where would Belichick end up? Pelissero didn’t report any leads. However, he did say that Belichick will be trying to go to an organization that’s in a position to be a contender quickly — and that the coach won’t need the same power he held in New England to do so.
“You’ve got to be thinking about the stable organizations, maybe some of the blue blood organizations and the owners who are going to let Bill Belichick be Bill Belichick,” Pelissero said. “It doesn’t have to be the same way it was in New England. At this stage in his career, Bill probably knows he’d be better off having a strong personnel person.?”
Pelissero referenced the fact that Belichick recently worked with Eliot Wolf, who’s now the head of New England’s personnel department.
After parting ways with the Patriots at the start of the year, Belichick has yet to land another coaching job. He was reportedly in consideration for the Atlanta Falcons job, but ultimately missed out on that spot, which went to Raheem Morris.
