Diners will be able to browse local vendors and satisfy their Mediterranean cravings when a new cafe and indoor farmers market opens in Cambridge.
Amba Cafe, located at 55 First St. in Cambridge, will open on Tuesday, July 16. Its accompanying First Street Market is anticipated to fully open in September.
Amba’s menu features breakfast, lunch and dinner options that draw inspiration from across the Mediterranean region.
Food options include breakfast shawarma, fattoush, hummus plates, pea and herb falafel as well as Amba’s centerpiece: rotisserie chicken.
Fresh pastries, coffee, wine, beer, cocktails and other beverages will also be available. A bar will also be present in the adjacent First Street Market, which people can walk to and from directly through the back of Amba Cafe.
With enough space for roughly 12 vendors, First Street Market will be open all year long.
The market will host local vendors selling seasonal produce, bread, flowers, meat and more. In months when farming is less active, the stalls will feature a variety of goods from local craftspeople, artisan producers and regional creators.
During the holiday season, First Street will transform into a festive holiday market. The market also has a separate community room that can be booked for private events such as cocktail classes, company parties and nonprofit fundraisers.
The concept is the latest venture from Chef Will Gilson’s Cambridge Street Hospitality Group, which oversees several renowned restaurants, including Puritan & Company, Puritan Oyster Bar, The Lexington, Geppetto and Cafe Beatrice.
Amba will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday to start off, then will expand its hours to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. a few weeks after the cafe opens.
