Child, 11, among 5 hurt in Dorchester shooting Wednesday, police say

An 11-year-old child was among the five people shot at what police described as an “outside gathering” in Dorchester Wednesday night, according to Boston police.

Along with the 11-year-old, a 21-year-old man, a 20-year-old man, a 21-year-old woman, and a 20-year-old woman were all injured in the shooting, which sent all five people to the hospital, police said in a statement. All five people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Detective John Boyle, a spokesman for Boston police, told MassLive.

Police responded to the shooting at 10 Greenwood St. around 9:47 p.m. on Wednesday, where an “outside gathering” was taking place when gunshots were fired. Officers found a car with ballistic damage on Washington Street not far from the area of the shooting, according to the statement.
