South Shore stabbing spree suspect held without bail

A 26-year-old resident from Martha’s Vineyard linked to a series of South Shore stabbings and a Connecticut homicide is being held without bail related to criminal charges in Plymouth District Court.

A dangerousness hearing held Monday resulted in district court Judge Julie Bernard ordering Jared Ravizza held without bail as charges against him proceed. Ravizza faces one count of armed assault to murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of indecent exposure related to a pair of stabbings in May.

Authorities from the office of Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz said that on May 25, at about 6:52 p.m., police were called about two McDonald’s employees who were stabbed at a Route 3 rest area in Plymouth.

A 21-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were brought to separate hospitals due to the stabbings, authorities said.

Surveillance video from McDonald’s showed that Ravizza reached through the drive-through window and stabbed the male victim with a large knife. He then left the drive-through, returned to the restaurant on foot, and stabbed the female victim, authorities said.

Last week, Connecticut State Police issued an arrest warrant for Ravizza and the department previously confirmed that he was a suspect in the murder of Bruce Feldman, 70, who was killed at a home in Deep River before the stabbing spree on May 25.

Authorities also identified Ravizza as a suspect in the stabbing of four girls at AMC’s Braintree location on the same day as the Plymouth stabbings.

Ravizza faces four counts each of armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in Quincy District Court.

Ravizza would have to be extradited to Connecticut to be charged there, so given his active cases in Massachusetts, it is unclear when that would happen, Connecticut State Police told MassLive last week. Their investigation into Feldman’s death is active and ongoing.

Ravizza has been detained at Bridgewater State Hospital since May 28 when a Plymouth District Court judge ordered him held while mental health professionals determine whether he is competent enough to stand trial.

On July 1, a Plymouth District Court judge again ordered that Ravizza’s mental health evaluation be extended and that he be held at Bridgewater State Hospital while this continues, court records show.
