SPRINGFIELD — When Jose Cuevas was a young man living in Guavate, Puerto Rico, he worked in a restaurant and fell in love with the business, an experience he credits with inspiring a lifelong dream of owning his own restaurant. More than a decade after he moved to Springfield, his dream became a reality with the grand opening of The Farmers House Restaurant on Friday.
In the eleven years that Cuevas lived in Western Massachusetts before opening the restaurant, he worked as a truck driver. He eventually owned his own trucking company before selling it and purchasing the property at 600 Belmont Ave., near the “X” intersection.
