2 people arrested in connection with armed robbery, home invasion in Mass., police say

Two people were arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery and home invasion in Lee, according to the Berkshire County District Attorney’s office.

K’Aunte Carnute, 23, of Pittsfield, is charged with home invasion, armed robbery (firearm) and witness intimidation, according to the district attorney’s office.

On June 25, a Lee resident called 911 to report a home invasion and armed robber. When Lee police officers arrived, the people involved had left but there was evidence that suggested there was more than one person involved and they had “been looking for specific items,” police said. Nobody was hurt, police said.

Police later identified Carnute as one of the people they believe were involved. Another person police believe were involved is under the age of 18.

One of the suspects knows the person inside the home, police said, adding that the incident was not random.

On Thursday, Carnute was arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court for a probation violation stemming from a May 6 conviction of assault and battery, assault and battery on a family or household member and possession of a class D substance.

He is currently being held without the right to bail in the Berkshire House of Corrections. He is expected to be arraigned in Southern Berkshire District Court on Monday.
