An ongoing budget dispute in which about 20 positions hang in the balance was the main reason behind the Northampton Association of School Employees (NASE) vote of no confidence in the district’s superintendent, Portia Bonner — but that wasn’t the whole story, according to the union president.
“There were many kinds of smaller instances and then after the budget hearings, people really just had had enough,” said NASE President Andrea Eggito. “And so members really rose up and said they basically demanded that we do this vote…. We had to take the lead for our members.”
