Mass. man accused of biting ‘good chunk’ of another man’s ear off during drunken fight

A Plymouth man is facing a charge of assault and battery after police say he bit a “good chunk” of another man’s ear off during a drunken fist fight after a night out.

The brawl in North Plymouth began around 1 a.m. on Sunday after two men returned home from a day on a sightseeing cruise followed by drinking at local bars and restaurants, Plymouth Police said in a Facebook post. When the men returned home, they got in an argument and began exchanging punches.

At one point during the fight, the Plymouth man got the other man to the ground and put his mouth around the other man’s ear, according to police. The other man pleaded “don’t bite my ear off, don’t bite my ear,” a warning that went unheeded, police said.

The Plymouth man bit a “good chunk” of the other man’s ear off. The piece of ear was in a cup of ice water when police arrived.

Officers arrested Michael O’Driscoll, 39, in connection with the fight and charged him with assault and battery with serious bodily injury (severe disfigurement) and mayhem.
