A woman riding her bike in Cambridge on Friday died after being hit by a box truck, according to authorities.
An initial investigation suggested both the bike and truck were traveling in the same direction on Mount Auburn Street around 4:30 p.m. when the truck turned onto DeWolf Street and hit the bicyclist, a 55-year-old Florida woman, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Christine Elow said in a joint statement.
The woman was brought to the CHA Cambridge Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the statement.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene of the fatal crash, the district attorney and police chief said.
The crash remains under investigation by the district attorney’s office, Cambridge police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the statement said.
