Mass. weather: 2 rounds of thunderstorms likely Thursday

After the first round of thunderstorms Thursday, skies are expected to clear in Massachusetts. But don’t put away your umbrella — another round of thunderstorms are expected later in the day.

“Two rounds of showers with embedded thunder today,” the National Weather Service wrote. “The first will be this morning through early afternoon and then after a several hour lull, another round this evening. Thunder more likely with the evening wave.”

Rain is expected before 2 p.m in Worcester, Boston and on Cape Cod. And again at night or early Friday morning. Those in Western Massachusetts could see rain before 12 p.m. and again around 4 p.m.

There is a hazardous weather outlook for the Berkshires.

The weather service said there is a marginal risk for severe weather, with the primary threat being gusty winds. Heavy rain is also possible, which could cause flooding on roadways.

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected to continue in the Berkshires until Monday, the weather service predicted.

There are chances of rain across the state throughout the weekend. However, rain is most likely on Sunday, according to the weather service. Fog could also be an issue throughout the weekend.
