Bailey Zappe has been to a few Celtics games this season, including Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers.
The Patriots quarterback, along with several other teammates, were in a luxury box that night supporting and rooting on the home team.
But where is the Texas native’s allegiance in the NBA Finals, with the Celtics now set to take on the Dallas Mavericks?
Zappe, who is battling to keep a job in New England, said he’s been asking a lot of people for advice on the subject, and finally came away with a verdict.
“I’m here, I’m in Boston,” he said Wednesday following the Patriots OTA workout. “I’m from Texas, but I’m not from Dallas.
“You know, I think since I’m here, I have to say Celtics, otherwise Bostonians won’t like me anymore. So I’m (rooting) for the Celtics.”
Plus, Zappe grew up closer to Houston, and noted that the Rockets and Mavericks are rivals. So he has no problem rooting against Dallas, who eliminated the Minnesota Timberwolves Thursday night to give the Celtics a dance partner in the finals.
Game 1 doesn’t start until Thursday night at TD Garden. Chances are, there will be a few Patriots in the building.
