ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — All season, Alex Cora has preached about how the athleticism of his team might allow the Red Sox to steal games they otherwise might lose. On Tuesday night, Boston rode its new style of play to a second consecutive impressive victory at Tropicana Field.
The Sox broke through with a two-run eighth inning rally — stealing four bases including a double steal in which Jarren Duran nabbed home — and beat the Rays for the second straight night, this time by a 5-2 score. Boston clinched its first series victory in St. Petersburg since July 2019 and extended its winning streak to three games. The Red Sox are back above .500 at 25-24.
