Athletic Red Sox get homer, steal of home from ‘perfect player’ in big win

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — With runners on the corners and the Red Sox leading, 3-2, in the eighth inning of Tuesday’s game, Jarren Duran stood idle at third base as Wilyer Abreu stole second base, then overran the bag and was tagged out. The speedy Duran probably could have scored on the play, but didn’t.

He wouldn’t make the same mistake a second time.
