Police in Mass. town warn of increased black bear sightings

Along with warmer temperatures, the arrival of summer weather also brings an uptick in activity for black bears, prompting a warning from one Western Massachusetts police department.

Monson police said they had received several reports of bear sightings from across the town, including in the downtown area on Friday.

“It’s that time of the year again when bears are becoming active and sightings are on the increase,” police wrote.
