‘Greatest antique show under the sun’: Brimfield started its world famous tradition 65 years ago

In 1959, a couple traveled 5,000 miles to spread the word across New England about a new flea market idea.

The idea was to get 87 of their collector acquaintances together to form a marketplace where they could show off and sell their items all in one place, according to a 1974 New York Times article.
