Fans will be ‘wanting more’ after Massachusetts rapper’s first-ever Boston Calling

Ed Sheeran, Tyler Childers and The Killers will headline Boston Calling this year, but they are not the only notable acts taking the stage at the 3-day festival.

The headliners will be joined by more than 50 artists, including more than 20 acts from the Northeast.

To highlight these local artists, MassLive will publish profiles on the acts leading up to the festival’s May 24 start date.

Boston rapper Cakeswagg is excited about connecting with a wider audience during her first-ever Boston Calling performance this year.

The rapper told MassLive that her upcoming performance is “a chance to share my music and message with people who may not have encountered it before, and hopefully, leave a lasting impression.”

“Additionally, being able to perform on such a renowned stage alongside established and emerging artists is so exciting,” she added. “I’m eager to showcase my unique blend of lyrical skill, energetic stage presence, and infectious personality to the festival attendees and leave them wanting more.”

Cakeswagg has been drawn to music for as long as she can remember. From the beats, rhymes and energy of hip-hop, music was always present during the rapper’s childhood. The Roxbury native started writing her own rhymes as a teenager as a means of pouring her thoughts and feelings into her lyrics.

Therefore, Cakeswagg said it will be an honor to represent “the vibrant hip-hop scene of Boston on such a grand platform” when she plays the Orange Stage on Saturday, May 25.

“Being among the local acts gracing the stage at Boston Calling this year feels incredibly validating and humbling,” Cakeswagg said. “Knowing that my hard work, dedication, and passion for music have earned me a spot alongside other talented artists fills me with a sense of pride and excitement.”

Once she hops off the stage, Cakeswagg is looking forward to seeing performances from Megan Thee Stallion and Ed Sheeran. You can keep up with Cakeswagg by following the rapper on her Instagram.

Boston Calling will take place Memorial Day Weekend from Friday, May 24, until Sunday, May 26, at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston.
