ATLANTA — Chris Sale’s message to the Red Sox was loud and clear Wednesday night. Boston may have whiffed on its decision to trade him to the Braves in December.
Sale utterly dominated the Sox for six shutout innings, recording 10 strikeouts in a 5-0 Atlanta win at Truist Park. Nick Pivetta, on the other hand, in his return from the injured list. Pivetta allowed three homers (and five runs) in just four innings to take the loss as the Red Sox, losers of five of their last six, fell to 19-18. It was the fourth time in 2024 that Boston was shut out.
