Bruins defenseman arrives in time for Game 1 after son is born

SUNRISE, Florida — On Saturday Brandon Carlo assisted on the BruinsGame 7 game-winning goal against the Leafs in overtime.

On Sunday, he assisted with the birth of his son Crew.

On Monday he’s expected to be in the lineup for Boston when they begin their second-round series against the Florida Panthers as Carlo continues one of the most memorable stretches of his life.

The 27-year-old defenseman missed morning skate, but arrived several hours before the game.

Patrick Brown stepped in for Jesper Boqvist as the fourth-line center with Johnny Beecher and Pat Maroon. Derek Forbort will play for the first time in two months in place of Kevin Shattenkirk.

Jeremy Swayman is making his sixth consecutive start for the Bruins against Panther legend Sergei Bobrovsky.

As had been previously announced Sam Bennett won’t be in the lineup for Florida, while Danton Heinen and Andrew Peeke remain out for the Bruins.
