Whether you’re looking to slug a pint of Guinness or dance an Irish jig, Boston is the perfect city to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
The city was named the best city in the United States for 2024 St. Patrick’s Day festivities by WalletHub, and it’s easy to see why.
“Boston is known for its huge St. Patrick’s Day parade, which brings in around a million visitors per year,” WalletHub said. “In addition, Irish food and drink is prevalent in the city. Boston has the fifth-most Irish pubs and sixth-most Irish restaurants per capita.”
Boston is also the seventh-most Irish city in the U.S. in terms of ancestry, with 13% of the city’s residents claiming to have Irish roots, according to the survey site. So to help channel your Irish roots, consider hitting up one (or multiple) of the following pubs in Boston for their St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
The Harp: Enjoy a special St. Patrick’s Day menu at this sports bar on Causeway Street from Thursday until Sunday. Bagpipers will also play all weekend.
MJ’s O’Connor’s: MJ’s O’Connor’s will offer a special brunch and dinner menu at its Back Bay location Thursday through Sunday, and at its Seaport location Saturday and Sunday. There will also be Irish step dancers performing Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Back Bay location.
Sam Adams’ Downtown Taproom: Sam Adams will host a St. Patrick’s Day celebration Friday and Saturday featuring live music, nitro stout, food specials and more.
Solas Irish Pub: This Irish pub right in the heart of Back Bay will have a special St. Patrick’s Day menu from Friday to Sunday including Paddy’s Breakfast, Bangers & Mash and Guinness Beef Stew.
Hurricane’s: This West End bar will offer a special St. Patrick’s Day menu from Friday until Tuesday including Cheese Curry Fries, Corned Beef Egg Rolls and a Baby Guinness Shot.
Ned Devine’s: This Faneuil Hall Irish pub will have a special St. Patrick’s Day menu from Friday until Tuesday as well as bagpipers, live music and Irish step dancers from Friday to Saturday.
Mr. Dooley’s: Mr. Dooley’s on Broad Street will have live music all weekend including Devri, Cherry Orchard, Finbar Doyle and Slainte on Sunday.
A.T. O’Keefe’s: This sports bar on Boylston Street in Back Bay is inviting guests to “get shamrocked” with a cover-free St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Sunday.
The Black Rose: This Faneuil Hall Irish pub is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day celebration where guests can get their named engraved on a Guinness glass. This event is being held Friday from 5-7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
An Sibin: Enjoy some fine whiskey and the best pint in Boston at An Sibin in Cambridge on St. Patrick’s Day, or any other day you want to channel your inner Irishman.
Emmets Irish Pub and Restaurant: This the best Irish pub in Boston and the best place in the city get Irish Coffee, according to Emmets Instagram. The pub, which is right next to the State House, is also “the perfect place to go for a bite, a perfect pint and a great time.”
The Dubliner: On Saint Patrick’s Sunday, this Irish pub in City Hall Plaza will begin the festivities as soon as the doors open. In addition to live music, a special celebratory menu will be served all day.
