Visitor spending represents a major catalyst for the Western Massachusetts economy, and some new data will help the Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau, also known as “Explore Western Mass” online, to be increasingly efficient as we work to continue attracting tourist dollars.
Our regional visitor industry is highly significant in terms of both economic importance and employment, having generated $1.3 billion for the region in 2022. Currently, the number of jobs supported by travel and tourism ranks third in Hampden County, trailing only health care and education.
