BOSTON — Before possibly trading for some size for their bottom six next month, the Bruins will try auditioning a candidate from Providence.
The Bruins are expected to call up Justin Brazeau, from Providence. They signed him to a two-year, two-day deal on Sunday, paving the way for him to make his NHL debut.

According to Cap Friendly, Brazeau will carry a pro-rated $775,000 cap hit.
It’s unclear whether he’d be a candidate to play vs. Dallas. He hasn’t practiced with Boston and with Monday’s game in the afternoon there was no morning skate. Still, Oskar Steen was played on waivers to be sent down to Providence and Jakub Lauko is questionable with an upper-body injury, it’s possible Brazeau could dress. But most likely, a move won’t happen until after Steen clears or doesn’t clear waivers at 2 p.m.
The 6-foot-5, 245-pound 26-year-old was undrafted coming out of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. He had 113 points in 68 games in his final year in juniors.
After starting his professional career in the ECHL his career was slowed by the COVID impacts of 2019-20 and 2020-2021.
But he has 34 goals and 48 assists for 82 points in 116 games over the last two seasons in Providence.
The New Liskeard, Ontario native likely got the nod over more offensively productive AHL teammates because he can bring size and potentially physicality.
