Griffin-Spalding County Junior Cadet Unit 3507 Awarded Grant by the National Police Association

Indianapolis – February 10, 2024. The National Police Association announced today it has awarded the Griffin-Spalding County, GA Junior Cadet Unit 3507 a $1000.00 grant. The program is one of several youth programs organized under the leadership of Spalding County Sheriff Darrell Dix, within the umbrella of the Spalding County Jr. Deputy Program, which is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

The Junior Cadet program is for boys and girls between the ages of 14 and 20 who have expressed an interest in law enforcement as a career. The cadets train to prepare for competitions, traveling to several competitions throughout the year, competing against other law enforcement cadets/explorers. At the last nationals, they finished in the top ten in the nation. They have finished third at state in the active shooter competition and second place in felony traffic stops at the Metro Atlanta Championship for Explorers (M.A.C.E.) competition.

The grant will assist in the support of equipment, training, and supplies for air soft competitions.
