Mass. driver had been drinking when she crashed, caused 6-foot hole in gas station wall, police say

A woman is expected to face an OUI charge after police claim she crashed her vehicle into a Carver gas station Tuesday afternoon, according to the Carver Police Department.

A vehicle hit a guardrail and the back of Nouria gas station, located at 303 Tremont St., around 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 21, Chief Marc Duphily said in a statement.

When they arrived, officers found a roughly 6-foot hole in the gas station’s back wall. The driver was not there, Duphily said.

A Massachusetts State Police Trooper, who was at the gas station at the time, followed the suspected driver down the street and stopped her. Authorities did not release her name.

The woman was brought to the hospital for treatment, but she was not placed under arrest, according to Duphily. No other injuries were reported.

The woman will be summoned to court at a later date to face charges that will include operating under the influence and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Additional charges are likely, Duphily said.
