Report of man chasing after girl in Boston under investigation, police say

A report of a man waving a girl to his car and then chasing after her while she was on her way to a bus stop in Boston on Friday is under investigation, police said.

Officers responded to the report of the girl walking to the bus stop near Bryon Road in the West Roxbury neighborhood of the city Friday morning when the unknown man waved her over to his car in the area of Broadlawn Park. When the girl refused, the man allegedly began to chase after her, according to a statement from the Boston Police Department.

The girl was able to safely get away. Officers searched the area but were not able to find the man, the department’s statement said.

The man was described as older, bald, wearing unknown clothing and driving a gray SUV or Minivan, according to the statement.

The department is reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident, the statement noted. Anyone with information is strongly urged to call detectives at (617) 343-4566. Community members who wish to help the investigation anonymously can do so by calling the Crime Stoppers tip line at 1 (800) 494-TIPS or texting the word “TIP” to CRIME (27463).

“The Boston Police Department will stringently guard and protect the identities of all those who wish to help this investigation in an anonymous manner,” the statement said.
