Days after business owner Eric Suher faced a city-imposed deadline to either reopen five shuttered Northampton venues or sell their accompanying liquor licenses, the deadline has been extended.
The deadline, which was at 5 p.m. Friday, was extended to Dec. 1 for the Calvin Theatre after the co-president of the well-known group The Bowery Presents and Alex Crothers, who owns Higher Ground in Burlington, Vermont, joined the License Commission’s Monday meeting and expressed strong interest in purchasing the theater. Suher said they are close to finalizing the sale.
