Red Sox outfielder Adam Duvall will be a free agent this offseason. On the latest episode of MassLive’s Fenway Rundown podcast, co-hosts Sean McAdam and Chris Cotillo discussed the factors that will impact whether or not the 35-year-old will re-sign with Boston — as well as whether Justin Turner and James Paxton are likely to return as well.

SEAN MCADAM ON DUVALL:
“(Duvall) wants to be more of an everyday presence. I think you and I have talked about how he would be a nice extra guy, a fourth outfielder, backup first baseman. He’s played there some in the past. Maybe if he got some work in spring training, he could play 25 games there. Give them a right-handed option to pair with (Triston) Casas.
“There’s a lot to like there. You talked about his numbers. You stretch those out over a full year and he’s at 30 (home runs) and 95 (RBI) or so. That’s not to be dismissed out of hand, we know that he has a good approach and swing for Fenway. I just think that there are so many moving pieces. It’s hard to see how they could guarantee him being an everyday fixture. And I think that’s what he expects and wants to do at this point.”
CHRIS COTILLO ON DUVALL:
“I think the one way to do it is, you trade Alex Verdugo probably or maybe they package either (Wilyer) Abreu or (Ceddanne) Rafaela and a trade for pitching and all of a sudden, it gets lighter. I could see them DFA-ing Rob Refsnyder before his extension even kicks in and maybe you have Duvall as your right handed outfielder, lefty masher guy.
“There’s just a lot would have to happen. A lot would have to shake out. He’s not a natural fit with all the guys. And so with that, I would say it’s unlikely on him (returning).
“But one of the nicer guys, I think, that’s come through the Red Sox clubhouse in the last couple years.”
