A 71-year-old man died after being hit by a car while attempting to cross Lake Avenue in Worcester after exiting a bus, police said.
Worcester police went to the area of 265 Lake Ave. at around 5:15 p.m. on Friday, where they found the man with serious injuries. A nurse was on scene providing medical aid to the man when officers arrived.
The man was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police wrote in a statement.
Police believe the man exited a bus and began to cross Lake Avenue from east to west. A vehicle headed northbound on the road, which runs along Lake Quinsigamond, did not see the man and hit him as he attempted to cross, police said.
The operator of the vehicle stayed at the scene after the crash, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
