Four teenagers are facing criminal charges in connection with the shooting of an 18-year-old Newton man early Saturday morning.
Brookline Police received multiple reports of gunshots in the area of New Terrace Road at 1:25 a.m. Saturday. Arriving officers found spent shell casings but no victim. Later, police learned an 18-year-old man had walked into Brigham & Women’s Hospital with a gunshot wound, police said in a statement posted to Facebook.
Officers confirmed the man had been injured in the incident at New Terrace Road. A vehicle found at the hospital appeared to have ballistic rounds in it, police said.
The Newton man is expected to survive his injuries, police said.
The four teenagers arrested Tuesday include a 17-year-old from Roslindale and a 16-year-old from Brookline, whose identities were not disclosed by police. Along with the 17-year-old and the 16-year-old, police arrested Thomas May, 18, of Brookline and Guilherme Leal De Britto Pereira, 18, of Needham.
The 17-year-old is charged with four counts of armed assault to murder and a single count of unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
Both May and Pereira are charged with being an accessory after the fact. The 16-year-old is also charged with being an accessory after the fact, but they also face several weapons charges, including improper storage of a firearm and unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm.
The shooting remains under investigation, police said.
