Four people died on Christmas in New Hampshire due to carbon monoxide poisoning, according to New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey, Wakefield Fire Rescue Chief Todd Nason and Wakefield Police Chief Michael Fenton.
The Wakefield Police Department went to 2962 Province Lake Road in Wakefield for a welfare check around 4:21 p.m. on Christmas. When officers arrived, they found multiple people deceased.
Investigators believe the people died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. Autopsies are scheduled to be performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Thursday.
Officials did not release the names of the four people, all adults, while next of kin are still being notified.
Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is encouraged to contact the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office at (603) 223-4289 or fmo@dos.nh.gov.
Officials reminded people of the importance of having working carbon monoxide alarms in their homes and to call 911 if the alarm goes off.
