3 Bay State Conference boys hockey games to watch this week

As boys hockey teams head into the hearts of their schedules, MassLive wants to highlight some of the top games to watch each week.

Whether it’s a potential milestone captured, a bout between two longtime rivals, or two streaking teams facing off, our staff will share the top contests to get out to and when and where they’re taking place.

For this week, Jan. 19-25, here are three Bay State Conference boys hockey games to watch.

Boston Latin School (4-6) at Needham (5-3-2) on Monday at 11 a.m., at Babson College

After falling to Hingham 7-0 on Saturday, Needham is going to look for a major get back game against BLS. Before the loss, the Rockets had won five of six including against Milton who previously had just one loss on the year.

A win for Needham however is not guaranteed, last year BLS took the matchup 2-1.

Dartmouth (3-6) at Milton (6-2-1) on Wednesday at 7 p.m., at Ulin Rink

The previously mentioned Wildcats rebounded from the Rocket loss by tying with 8-1-1 Nauset on Saturday 2-2.

Against Dartmouth, Milton has an opportunity to get back in the win column before conference play gets going again.

Walpole (4-4) at Newton North (4-7-1) on Saturday at 12 p.m., at Ryan Arena

After starting the year 4-2-1, the Tigers have now lost five games in a row. The Timberwolves on the other hand have won four of six and their two losses were each decided by just one goal.

Still, Walpole can’t overlook a Newton North team needing to turn things around if it wants a look at the state tournament.

Last year, the Timberwolves took the lone matchup between these two sides 4-1 in Walpole.
